The first task of earthly existence is and remains the perfection of the soul, and nothing else is so important that this task may be forgotten. And therefore all time on earth must be filled with thoughts of how such perfection can be achieved - man must neither become lukewarm nor sluggish, and should always only think of the soul; man should always consider the importance of this task of his, so that he uses every hour and works his way up.
The Divinity so often points out to man things which seem incomprehensible to him and thereby tries to stimulate his thoughts, and only constant contact with the Divine Lord and Savior, results in a successful striving of the earthly child .... Then nothing will seem insurmountable, which before stood like a mountain before one's spiritual eye. Man must strive tirelessly, and he must never think that he has already reached his goal .... In order to reach this already on earth, an unbelievable struggle for the truth, a strong, firm will and a childlike love for God, are required .... And if an earthly child strives for all this, he is also guaranteed by the Father in heaven that he will reach his goal .... And therefore man should pray unceasingly for strength to love God and his neighbor .... and this strength will guide him on all ways ....
