Divine blessing .... striving for higher development of the soul ....

BD 1168 November 9th 1939

I promise My blessing to those who follow Me, who do everything that corresponds to the commandment of divine love and who completely subordinate themselves to My will. And thus he will be able to enjoy My constant benevolence who unconditionally gives everything on earth in order to receive spiritual possessions. He will be certain of My constant blessing and need not suffer hardship, for if the soul is offered to Me then the body shall not go hungry either, so that the work on the soul will not be impaired. There must be no end to the endeavour on earth, for as long as the human being remains on earth he is offered opportunities which serve his perfection. The end of earthly life is set for everyone in wise foresight of what is to come, and since no-one knows his end in advance, the time on earth is to be utilized so that the recall can come every day without frightening him. And all endeavours should be directed towards the higher development of the soul, but concern for the body should be put second. It is incomparably more valuable for the soul to think of the welfare of one's fellow human beings than to constantly consider one's own welfare. The human being in his outer shell is transient, this only serves the purpose of harbouring the soul within itself, thus the soul should also always be considered first and the human being should only use all opportunities as such which can serve the well-being of the soul. And so man's life on earth is only of value when the life of the soul is cultivated, when every thought of man is for his spiritual good .... The ailments of the body are often necessary to support the soul when it begins to become lukewarm and careless. The work for the salvation of the soul must be constant and uninterrupted if the earthly path is to bring it the final maturity. The short time on earth, which seems difficult to you, will seem insignificant to you in view of the glory which you may receive in return when earthly life has brought you perfection. And if you now follow Me, if you make an effort to become perfect and fulfil all My commandments with a joyful heart, if you do nothing without Me and ask for My strength for everything you do on earth, you will remain in My love and I will bless you. And life will become easy for you if you put your spiritual well-being before everything else and live earthly life according to My will. And so always ask for My blessing, for My grace, so that the path on earth will seem easy for you and you will reach your goal ....
