Earthly power and measures .... divine protection .... firm belief ....

People attach too much importance to the measures which are taken on earth and do not consider that it depends on God's will that these measures can be carried out. God will certainly take people's free will into account and not always intervene in human determinations which do not correspond to His will, yet it is within His power to undo what people allow to come into being .... However, man himself cannot do anything to secure his fate, even though he obeys everything that is demanded of him by man. However, if he first fulfils God's requirements he need not attach such great importance to earthly regulations, he will then be guided by God in such a way that he will not violate earthly law and earthly authority, or He will know how to protect him from the worst consequences of an unknowing violation. And therefore the human being should not worry about his earthly fate as long as he is willing to be obedient to the supreme lord and ruler, for then He will grant him His protection as it serves him. Conversely, however, all precautionary measures are of no use, for earthly power cannot protect a person against divine decisions, which can destroy every human precaution. In times of need, trusting God is the only security against calamities that approach people from outside ....

An apparently secure external life situation does not yet guarantee real protection in times of hardship and tribulation, which God Himself sends upon people. For all people are exposed to such messages from above, no matter how favourably they are fated on earth. And therefore hours will come for every person when his own strength and power will no longer suffice but he will have to seek refuge in prayer .... where neither his fellow human beings can help him nor can he free himself .... where there is only one path that will lead him out of the chaos .... the path to God Himself .... But this path will never be travelled in vain, for God is always ready to help. Consequently, only the person who asks the heavenly father for help in full faith will be entitled to lead an easy life on earth. God fulfils this prayer as long as it arises from a deeply believing heart and the earthly child entrusts his need to God. On the other hand, the person who only recognizes an earthly power but not a being that he has not yet seen will inevitably come into extreme distress .... The earthly power will now fail, and spiritual beings, guardian angels and servants of God will take care of all those who humbly accept everything and only send up a silent plea in the firm belief that they are not sending it up in vain. This firm faith actually brings fulfilment to the person, whereas the plea to earthly power goes unheard; and whether the person is of rank and standing is only an outward appearance but has no deeper meaning. And so the human being need not feel any fear as long as he lives in God, regards himself as His child and endeavours to live in accordance with His will. Nothing will need to frighten him, for in all situations in life the father in heaven will be tangibly present with the person who loves God dearly. Whatever may approach you from the outside, you should neither quarrel nor fear for your fate, God will grant help to all those who only ever have Him before their eyes and in their hearts. People will still be faced with great decisions in order to decide in favour of Him or the representative of earthly power. Earthly power is completely powerless, whereas God's power accomplishes everything and can and will save everyone who believes in it from his distress ....
