As soon as a fear of death takes hold of the human being the spirit has not yet become active in him and therefore the soul has not yet decided in favour of him, instead it still pays too much attention to worldly pleasures. Thus the soul has not yet fulfilled its earthly task, and this depresses it when it thinks of its near end. For unconsciously it feels that a limit is then set for it. Through the direct connection with God knowledge can be imparted to the soul, but only ever through the fellow human being, since its own spirit is not yet awakened.

The human being can now use this knowledge imparted to him by making an effort to live according to divine requirements. Then he will soon succeed in hearing the voice within himself, the expression of the divine spirit in the human being, and from that moment on his state of soul will also rise, which will become noticeable through complete indifference towards earthly joys and pleasures. Then the human being gladly gives away what belongs to the world ..... Then all fear of death is also invalid. For what he no longer considers desirable has lost its appeal and no longer ties man to this world.

He who despises the world never has to fear the hour of death, he enters quietly and painlessly through the gate to eternity, he longs for the true home with its glory and understandably gives up everything for this. Therefore, if the fear of the hour of death still oppresses the human being, he is not yet entirely free from earthly desire and this must first be overcome, the human being must turn more intimately towards God, spend his life in active neighbourly love; he must pray often and sincerely that God will help him to a peaceful hour of death, he must completely hand himself over to God, faithfully entrust his needs and worries to Him and then leave the future to Him. And the inclination towards earthly things will dwindle, the desire for spiritual things, on the other hand, will grow, and the anxiety before the hour of death will disappear, for then the human being will shape himself into what he should be in order to be able to enter into eternal life ....
