The spiritual forces which are recognised by the human being's will always come into play, and thus the individual's train of thought is also influenced by those forces. Now the human being has to seriously account for whether his will is inclined towards the good or the bad, for according to his desire, his thinking and will, he is supported by spiritual forces which want to win him over. His way of life is decisive as to which spiritual forces join him, furthermore, his attitude towards God determines which power these beings have over him, for a heartfelt prayer to God for help displaces the enemies of his soul, even though the human being has succumbed to temptations and let himself be carried away by actions which betray the visible influence of bad forces.

The bad spiritual beings often take advantage of the human being's weakness and determine him to do deeds which are not right before God. But if the human being musters the will to unite with God in prayer, he will soon recognise the wrongness of his thoughts and actions and free himself from the oppressive forces by calling upon God for help against the tempter. On the other hand, the person whose striving is always for good will be guided and also protected by good forces, so that he cannot be oppressed by the bad spiritual forces and the good forces can now successfully work on him by guiding his thoughts and imparting many spiritual riches to him, but also determining him to work diligently on his soul.

He will always and constantly seek contact with God and thereby also brightly and clearly recognise what is opposed to God's will. So he will also keep away from people who act contrary to God's will, and likewise he will also keep away spiritual beings through his will to be good. He can resist and close himself off to the whisperings of evil forces because a thought turned towards God already puts a stop to their activity, thus the human being is never again defencelessly exposed to them, just as, conversely, the power of these spiritual beings is great if the human being himself is willing to enter into contact with them by turning away from God, by wrong thoughts and desires for the world and its goods, which are only lures on the part of his soul's enemy to make him turn away from God and incline towards him.

Man can resist, he is strong enough to do so, as long as he unites himself with God in prayer. But if he shuts God out, he abandons himself to the forces and gives them power over him, from which he can then hardly free himself. Just as the human being's thoughts and aspirations are, so are his spiritual surroundings ...., for the human being determines these himself and must also answer for his thoughts, feelings and intentions, because it is his completely free will to which forces he hands himself over. For no spiritual being's influence is so great that he is forced to act and think against his will. He enjoys God's protection if he calls upon Him and thus establishes the connection with Him, otherwise he hands himself over to the forces of darkness and this is also his free will ....
