God has commanded you to love one another, He has given you a commandment which you must fulfil if you want to be blessed. And this commandment demands nothing but love for Him and your neighbour .... Yet it encompasses all work on your soul which you should raise to the degree of perfection as long as you still live on earth. All your thoughts, words and actions should correspond to this commandment of love, it must be expressed in the desire to give and to please, in helping, comforting, uplifting and protecting .... man must do to his fellow human being what would make him happy himself if he were in the same degree of need.

Love your neighbour as yourself .... And so God has granted man a degree of self-love by which he can always measure how far he fulfils the commandment to love his neighbour. If a person's love for himself is great, then he also has the duty to consider his fellow human being to a greater extent if he wants to fulfil God's will. Then his activity of love must also be increased .... If self-love is less and the human being is interested in fulfilling God's will, then neighbourly love will surpass the degree of self-love, and this will be easier for the human being, for he can easily part with earthly possessions and give them to his fellow human being.

But you humans are always expected to practise unselfish neighbourly love, and thus you must also be able to do without, you must be able to sacrifice for the benefit of the fellow human being you want to make happy. And the more love you feel towards your fellow human being, the easier it will be for you to do so. But in order for the feeling of love for your fellow human being to awaken in you, you must imagine that you are all children of one Father, that you all originated in the same strength and are therefore all creatures of God's love ..... Then you will learn to regard your fellow human being as your brother, you will show him love, you will want to help him if he is in need, and your willingness to help will make you happy, for it is blissful in itself and brings you spiritual knowledge ....

If you give to your neighbour what is desirable to you, God will also give to you what is His .... He gives you truth, He gives you light and strength and grace .... He only makes you happy and provides you with goods which originate from His kingdom, which cannot be offered to you earthly. But He also blesses your earthly possessions by increasing what you sacrifice if it is helpful for your soul's salvation. Therefore, if you give yourselves in love for your neighbour you will not need to live in want, for God's love gives to you in the same way if you are in need, and He does not think meagrely of His Own but distributes His gifts unmeasured .... provided you also sacrifice without anxiously calculating what you can do without. If love drives you to give, then you will not hesitate or give out meagrely and thus also receive abundantly from eternal love.

And if you are not able to feel love, then you must educate yourselves to unselfish loving activity, you must look around you and, where you see need, intervene and lend a helping hand. This is God's will and you should make this will your own, then your activity of love towards your neighbour will make you happy in every way .... you will kindle love within yourselves until it becomes a bright flame which takes hold of everything that comes close to it. For love is divine, it originates from God and leads back to God. And therefore the commandment of love for God and neighbour is the most noble commandment which has to be fulfilled on earth as well as in the beyond in order to be united with eternal love and thereby attain eternal beatitude ....
