Unbearable misery ....

A considerable time still, and an almost unbearable misery will go over the earth.  This is the beginning of an epoch in which man again becomes more aware of his actual destiny, because this misery lets him find God, but also lets him remain with Him in more distant times.  And this misery will express itself in quite different forms, but higher powers will always be the cause, thus will man never be able to avert or reduce the misery by his own strength.  And therefore people will find the way to God sooner than before, and that is why the Lord imparts His Word to man, so that he has a support in this time of trouble, so that he is strengthened by this Word and gets strength from it for the time of difficult trials.

And again it must be said that only there where the Divine Word is received .... where the light from the heavens shines .... also a noticeable relief of the earthly misery comes to light.  Man will be able to reduce his state of suffering, if his will is directed to God.  This is the first and last reason why God lets such misery pass over the earth.  And no country will be spared from it, all people will have to endure suffering, because the meaning and purpose of suffering is the return to God, because the thoughts which have separated from God, are to turn to Him again.

But the Lord promises His protection to those who love Him .... And if faith in this promise is strong, man will emerge from all tribulations unharmed in body and soul.  The Father in heaven takes care of this child Himself, and He guides it through all dangers.  It is now clear that only turning to God brings salvation from the most severe hardship, but not all people bow to the Divine will, not all people draw the consequences and reduce their distance from God ....

Their will is rather directed mostly towards recovery of earthly goods and the restoration of the old state of life.  And so the great misery has not brought those people any change in their thinking; the will to matter, to evil, has become considerably stronger, but thoughts of God has been minimal, or completely eliminated.  Trying to bring the Word of God to such people, is unsuccessful.  They cannot be convinced of the transitoriness of earthly possessions in any other way, and if the complete decay of whole stretches of land did not make them aware of this clearly enough, any hint is in vain .....

The inclination to matter is greater and will hardly be overcome on earth.  Again, however, the desire for this cannot simultaneously trigger a desire for God and His Word.  Consequently, man will be opposed to the latter.  And this condition is far more desolate than before, because also the last aid has failed and man cannot be hindered in his free will.  These are the souls which Satan has completely in his power, only the prayer for such people can have a changing influence, as far as deep love for those unfortunates wants to free them from the misery of the soul .....
