Knowledge of the spiritual is necessary ....
Conscious work towards completion ....

The journey on earth requires a certain knowledge of the spiritual, because this stimulates striving, without compelling man to ennoble himself.  Being ignorant of this does not exclude man to develop spiritually higher - the being must only have an extraordinary desire for God and must be extraordinarily active in love.  Both must lie dormant deep within him - i.e., the being in him must already be aware of his origin out of God and without any knowledge of the Divine essence, unconsciously connect with God through deepest love and thus cannot be other than good.

But this presupposes already a rather high degree of maturity, which is extremely rare with an earthly being.  Therefore, people who lack any knowledge of the spiritual, will mostly be on a low level; they will always consider their existence on earth as an end, but not as a means to an end.  Only knowledge of the spiritual changes their perspective, and only now they live consciously on earth .... conscious of their task and also conscious of the consequences of a right or wrong earthly life.  He differentiates between a right and wrong earthly life and that is the beginning of the striving towards the height .....

These are often heavy thoughts, which can make an earnestly striving earthly child waver, if they are not dispersed from the spiritual side and a clear answer is given to the people.  On the one hand, man believes to be free from guilt, and on the other hand, the feeling of unworthiness weighs him down, so he also acknowledges a certain guilt.  The first as well as the last is now an obstacle for him to the right knowledge ..... For he who feels himself guiltless, does not use the possibilities which are offered to his soul .... he does not feel needy, therefore he does not accept what is offered to him ....

And the feeling of unworthiness again makes him sometimes despondent and timid .... He does not dare to desire what is available to him in all abundance.  And so those doubts must first be dispelled.  The earthly child must certainly recognize his still low spiritual state - however, the spiritual work, which is made clear to him through spiritual teachings, must also take away his own despondency, he must now also make use of the spiritual power and do everything to become worthy of this grace, which is the work of otherworldly spiritual powers for him.  If he opens his heart to those teachings which give him information about spiritual work, he immediately feels the power and the help of those beings, and he consciously accepts them .....

But this power can hardly be supplied to a person standing in fullest ignorance, because he does not open himself - that is, he does not want to receive.  Everything Divine must be desired, because to give it without it being desired, would judge the being and lead it to a state of maturity, which is not the result of it's free will. .... But in order to desire something, man must have knowledge of it and then be free to ask for it or to spurn it.  That is why the concern of all beings on the other side is to initiate the completely ignorant man into everything spiritual - and only then he can consciously work on himself and his perfection. ....
