Intimate Fatherly love ....
Concern for the lukewarm ....
Means ....

Words cannot express the love with which the Father in heaven cares for His children.  He is always and constantly concerned about His creatures and only always wants to win their love, so that they come to Him and remain with Him until all eternity.  And His concern is especially for those who let themselves drift unhesitatingly with the current of time, who join these currents regardless of the great danger and lose the solid ground under their feet .... faith in God Who is his support in earthly life.  Their will is turned neither toward good nor evil, they do not seek evil, but they also offer no resistance if it approaches them ....

They are also not obviously turned away from the good, but they also don't engage themselves in works of love; they are neither hot nor cold, but without any own urge to activity.  And so they have no goal in mind, and their life is empty and would be lived uselessly, if the heavenly Father would not disturb them from their idle rest ..... These people often have to be affected very hard before they lose their equanimity and make an effort to think differently.  Only deepest loneliness and most painful suffering are able to leave an impression on these souls, and often the result is only indignation or bitterness.

For they close their eyes and ears to the suffering of their fellow human beings, and nothing arouses their compassion that concerns them .... Therefore, God must make Himself known in a way that means hardship and sorrow for man.  Because His most intimate love is not recognized, and man in his carelessness no longer finds the way to Him.  And the way he walks, leads astray.  Nameless misery will therefore hit the people who do not yet recognize the hand of God in the misery of the time .... nameless misery they feel in themselves.

And the Lord will wait until the call from the heart of man reaches Him, and that hour will be blessed and spiritual awakening will be the result of such suffering, in which man found the way to God.  For only now he begins to strive and to think about his soul.  He no longer drifts randomly in the whirlpool of life, but has solid ground under his feet .... he has become a believer and now seeks God always and everywhere ....
