Hardened hearts ....

Do not harden your hearts and be willing to help everyone.  And if you are asked, do not think about whether you want to fulfill the request, but grant it, if it is in your power.  You must always put yourselves in the other person's place and always be mindful to alleviate this to the best of your ability, then you practice love, and this love will one day be repaid to you, because "as you measure out, it will be measured out to you again" - says the Lord ..... The person who is active in love is close to God, and his spirit brightens up according to his love-activity.  Because love is redeeming, it also cancels the state of darkness, which is the consequence of the banished, unredeemed state.  Everything that walks in sin, shall be redeemed .... and sin is everything that arises from unkindness.

Consequently, works of love must purify man from the guilt of sin, since God Himself cancels the sins of those who recognize them and ask for forgiveness.  But the recognition of sin and the request for forgiveness will not be conceivable without active love, because the soul of a hardened person does not recognize it's guilt .... it pays homage to self-love, and this is the greatest obstacle to the recognition of truth.  Man is strengthened in his self-love by the power of evil and thus becomes callous towards the suffering of his fellow man.

And there is no other way of salvation for such a soul, both on earth and in the hereafter.  Without love, it cannot become free from the compulsion tormenting it.  It must itself lend a hand to make the situation bearable for other beings, only then it's [own] fetters loosen, and the first step to the self-redemption is done.  If only people would consider that their state of suffering must be increased if they do not prove themselves in the trials of life that the Lord imposes on everyone.  If only they would realize that the soul must first give before it can receive.  It will feel the benefit of love itself, so it should also contribute to bring help to other unredeemed beings, and that earthly as well as spiritually ....

Man should not believe that he himself can draw from the source of mercy, while he denies the same refreshment to his fellow man.  The spiritual misery is very great, and therefore the bodily misery must also be felt, so that man may feel the bitterness of it in himself and be anxious to alleviate the suffering as much as possible.  But to be able to see suffering without sympathy, testifies to a hardened state of soul, which is still very far away from redemption.

In order to save such a soul, God must use violent means and increase the suffering, so that the heart in it awakens and the will in it becomes active, to intervene helpfully in order to alleviate this great suffering.  Only then will the spark of Divine Love have been kindled in him and can become a flame that has a purifying and redeeming effect and smothers all bad feelings in the heart.  Love must become active in man, so that he may receive final redemption ....
