Humility ....
Grace ....

Humility is rooted in the recognition of one's own inadequacy, and this in turn gives birth to prayer, for humility is the feeling of unworthiness and weakness, and this must be remedied by grace and help.  As long as a person feels small, he will be able to ask and give heartfelt thanks for the grace he has received, but he who is arrogant, will truly not raise his hands to the Father - for he feels himself strong enough to overcome opposition.  He no longer bows to a power that is above him, but he is aware of his worth and stands exalted above the one who asks for help.  He demands if he lacks something, and takes everything offered to him for granted.

And such a man cannot enjoy the grace of God either, he will certainly receive the power from God - which he needs for his earthly life - but his soul is in greatest danger, because it has too little power at it's disposal, since the will is missing to request this power from God and to humbly receive it.  Therefore the earthly life is lived uselessly, because it does not bring the soul the liberation from it's fetters, although the human has claimed the strength from God merely for his body.  It is a state which does not correspond to the will of God if man is arrogant towards Him, because the being has therefore gone the long way on earth in banished form to recognize it's powerlessness and to let it recognize the distance from God, which is now to be reduced by real childlike love.

But an arrogant spirit increases the distance from God in an unimaginable way.  Arrogance was the reason for the apostasy from God, and now only deepest humility can bring the essence of the eternal Godhead closer again. For God loves His creatures and makes His grace available to them, unmeasured.  It is this grace-power from God that flows to the spiritual in man.  If now certain demands are made on man, it happens only for man to freely decide for the union with God, or for the continuing separation from Him.  If the feeling of arrogance prevails in him, he must learn to recognize his unworthiness through life on earth, so that he may turn to his Creator in supplication and receive the power that shapes him in such a way that the distance from God becomes ever smaller.

And this has then brought about the inner humility, because a humble person gives away his own will and completely submits to the Divine will.  The Lord gives His grace to the humble .... Through humility he establishes the right relationship with God, humility makes him ask for strength, which can only come to man if it is consciously requested.  Inner humility is the admission of the former guilt, which caused the apostasy from God.  Humility is the surest guarantee that the Father will lovingly draw near to His child and pull it up to His Father's heart .... that God's Spirit will reunite with the Father's spirit ....
