Every undisturbed hour should be used for work for the benefit of humanity .... Spiritual welfare should be given priority over earthly welfare, for there is no time to lose. The demon also uses every opportunity to spiritually harm humanity and therefore the opposing power must be constantly active in order to prevent his activity; the good spiritual strength must unite in working against this power and therefore no lukewarmness or negligence may occur which would only benefit the adversary. For the stronger he now uses his activity, he also weakens the willpower of those who are not eager in their counter-work and causes them to become tired ....

Anyone who slackens in the struggle for the salvation of the souls of those in need of help also violates the commandment of neighbourly love. For it should be your most eager concern to help those who are close to spiritual ruin. You should not leave them in spiritual darkness and not turn away from them indifferently, for they need your help. They are weak and no longer able to free themselves from the power of the adversary. They do not recognise the hardship of their soul, for everything around them is dark and lightless, and therefore they do not desire the light either. But it should be your endeavour to kindle the little light and to bring a small glimmer of light to these poor people so that they pay attention and take notice of your activity.

You should make every effort to change their indifference towards spiritual knowledge into attentiveness; you should show their thoughts the right path, you should instruct and implore them to remember their soul and to grasp the meaning of life; you should try to persuade them to accept faith in Jesus Christ and reproach them with how much more beneficial it is to live on earth in love than to only live for self-love, for the fulfilment of earthly desires. You should not withhold anything from them which allowed you to find the way up, you should present Christ's teaching to them that they can only reach the top through service in love. You should do everything that can lead these souls from the night of the spirit to the brightness of the day. Then you will be loving in the truest sense of the word. This is the most unselfish neighbourly love, which is only meant for the salvation of the soul of the fellow human being.

This is a task which requires infinite love and patience, for the beings standing in darkness are difficult to persuade to accept the Word of God; they will offer all resistance because the adversary himself is your strongest opponent and drives the will of these people to the strongest resistance. And yet, the human being's love can be victorious if time and again these souls are fought for with tireless patience, precisely with the means of love. .... It is not the external human being who must be respected but his soul, which is in a pitiable state and can no longer muster the strength to free itself from the fetters the adversary has put upon it.

Anyone who stands in the light, i.e. in the knowledge of the truth, will recognise the need of such souls and will not cease his efforts to help them. He will try to bring them help through heartfelt prayer, he will present this soul's adversity to the Father in heaven and appeal to Him for strength for the work of redemption if his own strength is not enough and the human being's will tires before the soul is won for eternal life. Therefore be constantly active in love and turn all love towards your fellow human beings who are in distress of the soul. Don't let your failures depress you but always desire strength from God, then you will be able to solve the most difficult tasks, you will snatch the souls from the adversary and bring them to the heavenly Father, and these souls will thank you for eternity. ....
