A current will emanate from a human being (being) who is aglow with love for God, which will directly reach the soul of the one who likewise lives in God. But this person will also be exposed to a counter-current. And this is the great danger, since everything that is evil also increases and works within itself, yet always to the detriment of the soul. The human being must ask God for increased protection so that his dealings with people will not harm his soul. Anyone who serves God with love, reverence and humility will feel every evil influence and know how to protect himself against it through prayer.

Yet the human being should never believe himself so strong that he does not need this protection, for the opposing power is strong and only intent on destroying all currents and severing every connection from earth to the beyond .... all threads from the human being to God. Only where the will is so strong that it constantly demands God will it give up the intrigue. And therefore the human being should always and constantly entrust himself to spiritual protection, so that he will also be protected in hours when his own will is weaker, so that he will be warned at the right moment by his spiritual friends who will now, as it were, fight along for him.

Far too little use is made of the help of these beings and therefore the battle on earth is sometimes a very difficult one, even for the God-fearing earthly child ..... For it desires too little strength from God, whose transmitters are these spiritual friends. But if the human being faithfully hands himself over to the care of these beings of light who work according to God's will, the human being may also constantly receive strength, for all perfect beings of love immeasurably distribute the strength they receive through divine love. And thus the adversary's activity is made more difficult, his power is, as it were, curtailed by being ineffective towards people who want to receive such strength from God. And this is truly necessary at a time when all spiritual activity is denied ....

If the human being willingly hands himself over to those currents which originate from the adversary, thus only strive for destructive success, he willingly hands himself over to this power and his thinking will soon be misguided, his power of realisation will be weakened, his resistance will weaken and he will unconditionally accept what is whispered to him by this power and which completely contradicts God's will. Then you will be bound creatures and lack the strength to release yourselves from the bondage, whereas the desire for God, the devotion to good spiritual beings, the desire to receive good spiritual strength will free you from all compulsion and the light of realisation will then shine for you on all your paths through life. For God is within reach of everyone who merely desires Him ....
