Recollection ....

The remembrance of all preliminary stages of the course of development would compulsorily cause the human being to lead the right way of life and thus eliminate becoming perfect, for everything perfect is good of its own free will, whereas a forced being is always something imperfect, since it is actually different, i.e. against its will it became what it had never voluntarily striven for. But every foreknowledge eliminates free will, because then the being must strive for that which protects it from a repetition of the state of suffering in the banished form. It then no longer has the free decision, it can no longer choose between good and evil, it has to do good without being good ..... He then has to give love without feeling it; he will do everything in order to only no longer need to cover the endless long path before embodiment as a human being.

Thus God took away people's recollection and placed them into life completely ignorant of it. If He now gives them information about it, this happens out of immense love, but only those people take note of it who already strive for the good of their own accord, because for them the knowledge about it is without danger. But precisely this enlightenment will be rejected as untrustworthy wherever man has not yet decided. It is precisely the teaching of the soul's migration in its individual substances through every work of creation that will be rejected as completely unacceptable. It will not be believed and therefore will not pose a threat to people's free will either, for they will not in the least change their way of life on the basis of such explanations because they flatly deny them.

On the other hand, however, this teaching stimulates people whose will is already turned towards God, for to them it is merely the revealing reason for all creations which reveals God's great love, wisdom and omnipotence and thus only contributes towards strengthening faith and showing love and reverence towards God. And therefore this teaching must also be passed on with great caution and should, if possible, remain hidden (withheld) from those who have difficulty confessing God. For if the truth of divine revelations were to be made credible to them on the basis of other teachings which cannot be refuted, there is a danger that they would only change their lives for the sake of the consequences, that they would therefore, so to speak, only flee a danger because it causes them harm, but not avoid evil and do good out of their innermost impulse.

The human being should be good for the sake of good, he should ennoble himself out of love for God because he longs for Him from the bottom of his heart ..... If this is the reason for his higher development, then it is precisely this teaching which will bring him the light, for only then will many things become comprehensible to him which were previously inexplicable without, however, inhibiting his free will ....
