So many questions are raised in a time of spiritual emancipation, and these questions always concern a still little explored area, the inner life of the individual human being ..... For it is clear that every human being's inner life is different, and people are now trying to find an explanation for this. People lack all knowledge. With a conviction that brooks no contradiction, they go over to relating the inner form of the human being to the structure of the body; they thus assume that a certain race of human beings must also have the same feeling, that the inner life is therefore racially determined. And this view gives rise to all kinds of questions.

The theory of race, in which all theories are founded today, is only justified in so far as it sheds light on external appearances, appearance and nature, so that a certain race also shows certain external characteristics. But race never has any influence on the inner feeling of man, which alone is decisive in spiritual matters. And it is precisely the most diverse races that have a certain similarity in their emotional life, so it is now assumed that the race has an influence on the inner life. And this is erroneous .... For the life of feeling, which originates in the soul, is formed by every human being himself.

If the same sentient life had been implanted by the Creator in the same races, the different tribes of peoples would have to be of the same nature. Every way of acting would then be justified by the race of man and thus also judged (accordingly). And consequently God would always have prescribed to the different people the shaping of their inner life, and then people could not be different than they were assigned by God Himself through belonging to a certain race. Thus a higher development would be out of the question, and neither could people be called to account. Yet they are not granted the stay on earth in order to shape themselves outwardly in the same way through their race, but every human being, regardless of which race he belongs to, must cultivate his inner life and thus contribute everything himself to develop spiritually higher.

All external aspects of people's lives will also only relate to earthly life, or rather, these people, bound together by race, will retain all their characteristics, regardless of whether their inner attitude is for or against God. Only in purely worldly questions can a consensus of thought be found, in spiritual questions, however, every individual person's thinking will be different and the attitude towards God so fundamentally different that the affiliation to a certain race can never lead to the conclusion that the human being is forced to think according to his race.

And this now puts right an erroneous view which has hitherto been too little examined. Wrong conclusions have been drawn, even though apparently the external make-up of human beings is quite similar. The inner life goes completely isolated .... In order to shape it in accordance with divine will the human being has to occupy himself spiritually, he cannot relate his peculiarity to his spiritual task, he has to struggle in exactly the same way as the human being belonging to another race if he wants to bring his soul into the state that God finds it pleasing and receives it into His kingdom ....
