When the Lord's love visibly expresses itself in times of mental bondage and He descends to earth in the Word, this signifies a dawning of the spiritual sun through dark clouds. .... God's love itself is the sun which brightly illuminates the day, for God's love wants to conquer the darkness of the spirit, it wants whoever desires it to walk in the light of the spiritual sun. This sun illuminates everything, it does not tolerate darkness, it does not tolerate shadows, it radiates bright light everywhere and is thus extremely beneficial for the earthly wanderer who previously struggled to find his way in the darkness of night.

Light is life, darkness is death .... Light is vigilance, darkness is sleep .... In radiant sunlight everything will awaken to life that was previously slumbering in darkness. And for all beings the light of the sun means fulfilled longing. For in darkness it suffers and longs for the light. And He, Who is light in Himself, breaks through the darkness and takes the path to earth; He looks for a vessel which is suitable to receive the light and ignites a flame there which shall shine far and wide for the blessing of humanity. ....

Divine wisdom shines down on earth like a sun and enlivens with its light what before lay in deep slumber .... How unspeakably gracious is the eternal love of lost humanity .... How it should rejoice at the light which comes from the heavens and how gratefully it should allow itself to be illuminated and warmed by the rays of the spiritual sun .... Yet humanity is spiritually blind, it does not pay attention to the light, it does not pay attention to the beneficent, invigorating ray of divine love, it closes its eyes and maintains the state of darkness, it flees the bright shine because it cannot tolerate the light, it is not ripe for divine activity, it cannot tolerate the sun's beneficent warmth, its radiant light ....

It feels at ease in dark night, and thus two worlds can exist on earth at the same time, a sunny, exceedingly lovely valley where divine love offers people everything they desire .... and a valley where darkness, drought and barrenness offers people a meagre existence and this is to be understood purely spiritually. For where the sun of the spirit does not shine the earth is lightless and nothing can grow and prosper, i.e., everything of substance is in need .... But where God Himself sends His rays to earth there will be light and sun, there will be life and joy, there the soul will awaken to life and ripen into delicious fruit in the rays of the divine sun of love ....
