How the human being attunes himself to the eternal Godhead is decisive for his moral value and for the degree of maturity of the soul. Without question, it is the inner feeling of the human being that is decisive, not his outwardly marked attitude. However, this inner feeling will only be expressed when the person's calm is shaken, when the person finds himself in situations in life where he cannot keep up an outward appearance, but drops every mask. Only then can we speak of the essence of a human being, and only then will it be decided which position he takes towards God.

The human being can outwardly present himself completely differently without, however, being able to be condemned for it, for he resists openly displaying his innermost nature; conversely, however, he can also feign a noble nature to his fellow human beings which is not in harmony with his inner nature. And therefore the human being will not be able to make a just judgment about his fellow human being so easily .....

But God knows people's shortcomings and weaknesses as well as their value and will. And He wants them to divest themselves of appearances, He wants them to recognise themselves and reflect on their actual nature .... Everything that is good and noble recognises God in all situations of life, and he takes refuge in Him in adversity .... and thus the human being learns to pray correctly, i.e. in spirit and in truth .... He does not merely speak to himself mechanically but the supplication of his heart ascends to God and the bridge is entered which leads across into the spiritual kingdom.

Countless people, however, who were careless and superficial before, who only spoke God in their mouths and were otherwise distant from Him, are now looking for Him, and they also find Him, for the transience of the earthly has shaken their self-assurance and taught them to think differently. Man is easily inclined to condemn, but God is long-suffering and merciful ..... He seeks to save what has not yet completely fallen to the adversary, even if His means seem cruel and incomprehensible to people ....
