True soul community from within ....

An intimate community of souls should unite people so that they will strive upwards together and spur each other on to a life of love and profound faith. True community is conducive to the maturing of souls, but people must strive for it of their own accord, they must feel urged in their hearts to give their love to their fellow human being and thus seek each other in order to cultivate an exchange of spiritual thoughts, in order to give and receive what spiritual good they possess or desire.

As soon as coercion is exerted, i.e. a community is formed according to plan which people should join, its value is reduced, for it then lacks the intimacy which first constitutes the value of a community. And therefore such endeavours will rarely be of use to the soul which are intended to be works of love but which, in the best case, are merely prescribed actions which are intended to testify to the sense of community .... which are intended to be works of neighbourly love but which are carried out without the urge of the heart .... which are only done in order to pretend a community externally but which lacks the inner spirit of love.

Rather, this is a mechanical exercise of certain duties which have nothing in common with active neighbourly love, for it is not the deed itself which determines the value of an action but the degree of love of the heart of the person who performs this deed. However, the human being is in danger of ceasing to act with love if he is systematically encouraged to do so in a community. In contrast, intimate soul fellowship promotes loving activity of its own accord, and people feel urged to do good deeds because they are not demanded of them but are carried out of their own free will and therefore only have the right value before God ....
