Unnumbered souls pass over into the spiritual kingdom in an immature state at their demise, and their fate is therefore not very enviable. The kingdom of light is closed to them and they live in an environment which is adapted to their immature state .... but which does not suit them at all, for selfish love is particularly strongly developed in these souls, which is why they had little love for their neighbour on earth and could not reach a high degree of development. Self-love now makes them feel their inadequate fate particularly hard, for they will not be able to satisfy it anywhere. It is true that her own desire presents her with everything she desires, but as soon as she tries to grasp it, she realises that they are only illusions, and this realisation is all the more tormenting the more she desires earthly goods.

She has not yet overcome matter in earthly life and takes the desire for it with her into the beyond, and consequently she does not feel the need to distribute and make the souls who share her fate happy, because on earth she had little compassion for the suffering and worries of her fellow human beings. And yet, God also grants these souls grace and gives them renewed opportunities for development so that they can also attain higher maturity in the beyond. For due to their inclination towards earth, which is characteristic of all immature souls, they still predominantly stay close to earth and can now see the destructions carried out by human hands, they recognise the worthlessness of earthly goods from it, they see the earthly hardship on earth and can even feel prompted by it to express their will to help.

And thus earthly hardship contributes to a change in the thinking of individual souls, and they overcome self-love and now stand at the beginning of their higher development in the beyond. This grace is still granted by God to countless people today, that thus people's unkindness will indeed bring about their earthly end, since earthly life is not used for the purpose of the souls' higher development, but that the now departed souls are nevertheless allowed to stay close to earth in order to change their attitude in people's suffering and misery, in order to realise the worthlessness of earthly goods and to suppress their desire for them. But if the self-love is exceptionally strong, then even this earthly hardship will not contribute to the change, then the desire will only become ever more fierce for the goods of the world, and the being's own imagination will make it believe all the things it longs for.

But then the state is also exceptionally tormenting, and the soul is in greatest danger of developing regressively and no longer making use of the last grace in the kingdom on the other side. This danger is great, and yet the passing away before the last end is still a grace for such immature souls, for then there is no longer the possibility to mature in the beyond despite a low degree of maturity. Therefore, premature death is proof of divine love which still wants to bring salvation to such souls since they have failed in earthly life. It is a last resort to change to love, and God leaves no means untried to still bring salvation to all beings before it is too late. But how He uses these means is up to His free will ....
