Useless activity ....
Man sometimes desires enlightenment about things which are unimportant and also in no way beneficial or conducive to the soul, and the time used for the investigation of such things is to be called lost. For it is without any purpose to solve worldly problems which have nothing to do with the actual earthly task and which also do not serve to promote man in spiritual knowledge. The time on earth is so short, and the task demands fullest commitment to it, and every thought-work which serves neither the welfare of the fellow men nor the welfare of the soul, shortens this time on earth and reduces one's spiritual success. The reward for such work is truly small, because it is only recognized by a few fellowmen, who likewise stand in wrong thinking, since they attach too much value to such work.
Man should use his intellect well .... because God has endowed him with it .... but only in a truly beneficial way .... for the good of fellow men - and must therefore be dictated, as it were, by love for them .... And so every profession that meets the needs of people or in some way has a charitable effect on mankind, will be able to carry off it's blessing and exist before the eyes of God, but an activity that only has the purpose of creating works that serve the opposite, that are in no way beneficial and only help to increase assets or power, will never find the approval of the Divine Creator, and one day man will remember in deepest remorse the time which he has filled with such activity, whether in thoughts or physically .... and which did not bring him the slightest benefit for eternity .....
